Not your Father's PC Network

In the old days, your nephew did a serviceable job of keeping your network running. Those days are gone, killed by complexity, changing technology and security issues. Due to emerging Internet threats, it is no longer acceptable to ignore or postpone security maintenance tasks like patching your systems and protecting against outside intrusion.

Every four weeks, Microsoft issues new program patches to block the latest techniques hackers use to enter your system and cause harm. If you are not diligent about applying these patches in a timely manner, you increase your risk. Year-end lists of top-ten vulnerabilities typically include many exploits which had been fixed by Microsoft prior to the beginning of that year. In those cases the real vulnerability is the network administrator who didn’t bother to put on a patch, not the software vendor.
